KARI and NASA JSC Collaborative Endeavors for Joint Korea Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter Flight Dynamics Operations: Architecture, Challenges, Successes, and Lessons Learned

This paper outlines the collaborative efforts between Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) and National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Center (JSC) for Flight Dynamics (FD) operation of Pathfinder Lunar Orbiter (KPLO). From outset KPLO program, joint KARI FD team NASA JSC Operations Directorate (FOD) have devoted significant time effort towards ensuring mission’s success. begins by introducing aims scope work, followed a detailed description made FOD. includes top-level concept, interface architecture, test results, established procedures/timeline, summary rehearsal conducted. Finally, discusses challenges lessons learned from this journey, particularly practical operational perspectives. Thanks to team’s efforts, has successfully entered lunar orbit is performing its mission exceptionally well. The experience fostered mutual trust JSC, serving as foundation further cooperation collaboration. outcomes described in work will provide valuable insights experts worldwide who are willing foster similar international collaborations future.
